After being trapped in the Cretaceous period for a year Abby and Connor finally return home through a portal but there is no news of Danny. Philip Burton,a millionaire inventor,is financing the ARC,to Sir James' disapproval,and Captain Becker is none too thrilled with Matt,Cutter's successor with his love of developing gadgetry. Scatty computer operator Jess completes the new team. A giant spinosaurus has followed the couple through the anomaly and is eventually trapped in an arena and sent back to its own time.However Abby and Connor are told that their services at the ARC are no longer required,though the mysterious Gideon tells Matt he feels they should remain.
