A couple finds the corps of U.S. sailor Khalil Said, who arrived after translation work on Guantanamo Bay, suffocated in smuggled emeralds. The NCSI team gets a priority flight to investigate on Cuba Special Agent Paula Cassidy, an interrogator-translator to whom Said wrote five letters. Abby gets to buy loads of perfume to identify a 'female smell' on Said's underwear. Leroy Jethro Gibbs starts interrogating Nasser Al Jazair, Said and Cassidy's subject, believing him the source of emeralds to finance terrorism. Tony DiNozzo and Kate Todd initially bickered while treating the job as a paid vacation, but find out Said and Cassidy probably were romantically involved, which she denies.
