Meredith finds herself incapable of dealing with the issues surrounding her mother. Cristina finds it a little harder to get ahead in the heart surgery department, but finds herself bonding with Callie, who can't seem to keep her marriage together. Sydney attempts to get closer to Derrick, who doesn't want to get close to anyone, while Halloween presents the hospital with a rather unique form of trick or treating.
